“If God doesn’t build the house, the builders only build shacks. … Unless the Lord builds a house, the work of the builders is wasted.” Ps. 127:1 The Message/New Living Translation
God knows all about what work really looks like inside and out. He knows what you look like on the inside when you try to “do” your work without Him. He knows what it does to you: wears you out .. depletes your strength .. ages you through stress .. and leaves you lonely in accomplishment. Jesus said: “This is the only work God wants from you: Believe in the one he has sent.” God wants your work to count. There is nothing more defeating than to think that your efforts amount to nothing. When your life is disconnected from Christ .. nothing else will replace him. You’ll always have to keep filling your life with “more” of something to cover who Christ wants to be in your life. The real work: believing. It is always the hardest work because effort .. determination.. and self will try to stand in for belief at any juncture. And the Lord declares with great clarity what your life looks
like when you try to work without Him. His offer isn’t an empty promise … but a promise for today.
And for your life today…..? It only takes a moment….
