Accepting who I am in Christ …

September 4, 2012

“It’s in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for.” Ephesians 1:11 The Message

You don’t have to spend one moment of your life trying to be accepted by God. You’ll wear yourself out trying. It’s just that we really don’t know how to live based on finding our true selves “in Christ”. The world around you markets identities of every shape and accomplishment. The real you is found “in Christ”. The world around you tries to convince you that it is “Christ and ‘something else'” that will make you whole. The real battle everyday is whether you’re going to believe what God says about you or what the world around you says about you. “In Christ” you’re adopted .. loved eternally .. and abundantly free through the Cross. In the world you decide how much of God you want for your life. You can try to mix and match this world and Christ. You may even do it successfully for a season or longer. But the real you will only find your true self where Christ is the center of your life. The great thing about God is that He doesn’t hold anything back when it comes to your life. His choice of you wasn’t shaped by your choice of Him. When it comes to your life .. He’s all in. When it comes to your life in Christ .. nothing may change (at first) around you but everything will change within you. It’s no longer about you trying to make life happen. You no longer have to carry around all of those extra parts in case something breaks inside. You don’t have to walk around with your defenses on alert. You don’t have to put “that mask” on again. Your life begins to expand and you realize it’s because of Christ being alive in you. The things that were once important begin to fade and lose their grip. You may not even be able to explain it at first .. but you will. God knows what this day holds for you. Will you take hold of Him .. or take hold of something else? It only takes a moment …

It’s in Christ that you, once you heard the truth and believed it (this Message of your salvation), found yourselves home free — signed, sealed, and delivered by the Holy Spirit.” Ephesians 1:13 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
