And here you are ….

September 11, 2012

“And so here I am, preaching and writing about things that are way over my head, the inexhaustible riches and generosity of Christ.” Ephesians 3:8 The Message

You’re a preacher. You didn’t become one by “trying out”. You became one the moment Christ was “tried” and executed on your behalf. You became one when you believed all that you heard .. all that you’ve read .. and all that God’s indefatigable love changed inside of you. You became a preacher. It’s not a comfortable title for anyone. You’re always aware that “what” you are talking about is way over your head. How do you even begin to share the “inexhaustible riches and generosity of Christ”? You trust Him .. who He is .. who He is in you .. and who He is for the world you live in. That kind of freedom doesn’t go unnoticed in a chained up and imprisoned world. Being bold doesn’t mean you are entitled to offend anyone or step into anyone’s world unwelcomed and unwanted. Boldness presents itself in Christ who only “did” what he saw his Father doing. His freedom drew the lame, blind, tormented, rejected, forgotten, discarded, unqualified (just look at the 12 he called), and anyone who thought God would never accept them or ever welcome them back home. His freedom and His boldness found you and made you a preacher. Yes .. you. Is His love worth talking about .. worth risking for another life .. and worth you becoming a preacher? God surely thinks so. He drew up the plans. Some preachers say very few words. Their lives speak volumes in their actions and countenance. Some preachers have a lot of words and their lives are rich in the generosity of Jesus. There are good preachers and bad preachers. Same God though, and He never seems to tire of pouring out His inexhaustible riches and generosity through His Son … and into you. You’re a preacher with a message .. free to say what needs to be said out of the riches in Christ. You’re a preacher with a message .. bold in His grace to share and serve generously to anyone whom God has planned all along to bring across your path. How about today? …. it only takes a moment …

“All this is proceeding along lines planned all along by God and then executed in Christ Jesus. When we trust him, we’re free to say whatever needs to be said, bold to go wherever we need to go.” Ephesians 3:11-12 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
