Nourished …

” that you being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth and to know the love of Christ …” Ephesians 3:17-19 New American Standard

You are to draw your life from Jesus. His life abiding in you is your life-spring. You’re to draw upon His life for your strength .. your wholeness .. your well-being .. and your hope for today. There will be any number of counterfeits trying to divert you from being rooted in Christ. The messages are always the same: He’s outdated .. indifferent to your needs .. out of touch with the real you. But the real you wants Someone who has promised to never leave you .. forsake you .. and knows you by name. The very life that Jesus lived rooted in His Father’s love is the very same life he wants to be rooted in you. The foundation of your life is in Christ. It’s not what you have constructed .. it’s what He has done for you .. and is now risen from the dead. Root systems are easily neglected. Foundations are taken for granted. And yet the very places where your life struggles at times and feels disconnected at other times often show you’ve tried to use other sources of nourishment .. or stand on another foundation. In Christ you were rooted and grounded in the love of Christ and there is nothing healthier or richer for your life. Thanksgiving doesn’t mean everything in your life is perfect. It means that you’re intimately abiding in Christ and it’s his life that is flowing into your life and the strength you have comes from him. You know if Christ is the central root system of your life. You know if you are standing on .. building on .. and hoping upon Christ today. There are always places where his love is reaching into neglected or starving areas of your life. He’s not condemning. He’s coming with his grace to heal the broken roots .. restore the broken trust .. and rebuild the foundation of his forgiveness and faith. That’s where you’ll find the breadth .. length .. height .. and depth of Christ’s love at work in your life. And today … it only takes a moment …

“You received Christ Jesus, the Master; now live him. You’re deeply rooted in him. You’re well constructed upon him. You know your way around the faith. Now do what you’ve been taught. School’s out; quit studying the subject and start living it! And let your living spill over into thanksgiving.” Colossians 2:6-7 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
