“In Him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace that he lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding.” Ephesians 1:7-8 Christian Standard
If you had all the resources you wanted, you still would not be able to put your life together and make everything right in your world. We love redemption stories where wrongs are made right and broken things are made whole. God’s redemption story is repeated over and over in lives wrecked by wrongs and broken in irreparable pieces. Jesus is our .. your .. redemption. He covers the debts of our lives and finds us lost in broad daylight. Redemption is a nice word for the mess we’ve made of our lives with sin. We’d like to think that there is at least something good in all of our self-centeredness and that maybe God has used even a little bit of “my” efforts. Instead .. He forgives all of your trespasses .. your sins .. your self-providing .. self-promoting .. and self-preserving angles. Jesus is the face and identity of redemption. It’s hard to admit but we don’t provide one particle of our redemption. He provides for us out of the “riches of his grace”. He uses the best of His life to restore you and make you whole. He doesn’t just provide enough for your life but he “lavishes” his grace .. wisdom .. and understanding on your life. When it comes to your life Jesus understands you like no other. If there was any other way .. he knows you would choose it over him. It really seems unbelievable that Jesus would redeem your life for so much. But He knew that the only image we would remember was how little our life really was worth. Now we know .. it’s worth more than we could have ever imagined. His blood .. his riches .. his grace .. his wisdom .. his understanding .. his life exchanged for yours. There isn’t one redeemed mistake walking around today. There never has been or ever will be. Every life redeemed in Him is forever. It means today .. there is nothing random or arbitrary about your life. You are alive in his grace .. and whatever is before you today .. it only takes a moment ..
