Right where you are …

“I’m not asking that you take them out of the world but that you guard them from the Evil One. They are no more defined by the world than I am defined by the world. Make them holy – consecrated – with the truth; Your word is consecrating truth.” John 17:15-17 The Message

The events around Jesus life are not overwhelming: He attended a wedding .. He crossed paths with disabled and discarded men and women everyday .. He was interrupted by desperate fathers and mothers who had no where else to turn. He was confronted with real sin and real sinners. He was arrested, tried, and executed because he threatened every man-made institution on earth. He didn’t try to build an army or become an advocate of the forgotten or forsaken. He came to give his life away so that you could find your real life .. in Him. And finding your real life in Him will change everything around you. It changes how you live .. love .. and work. (The real battles and struggles everyday seem to be over trying to cram Jesus inside the “worlds” we want to live in) Jesus prayed that the world would look at your life and see a difference. Your life would reveal that the Father had sent the Son. How…? A modern-day saint-friend wrote these words: “Jesus birth took place in a very low tech time in history. Communication was slow, time consuming and very personal. He modeled for us a way to be, a way to listen and be involved with people. From the woman who had hemorrhaged for twelve years who told Him her whole story (Mark 5) to the washing of the disciple’s feet (John 13), He was committed to face-to- face, personal communication.” With Jesus .. there was nothing usual about doing business as usual. Every encounter was personal. And it hasn’t changed for 2000 years. He’s still impressed when you take a moment to be a face of grace. He prayed you would be a living “truth-consecrated mission”. It is the only mission that will fit. It only takes a moment …

“In the same way you gave me a mission in the world, I give them a mission in the world. I’m consecrating myself for their sakes so they’ll be truth-consecrated in their mission.” John 17:18-19 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
