Faithful pursuit …

October 29, 2012

“Therefore, behold, I will allure her, bring her into the wilderness and speak kindly to her. Then I will give her vineyards from there, and the valley of Achor as a door of hope. And she will sing there as in the days of her youth, as in the day when she came up from the land of Egypt.” Hosea 2:14-15 New American Standard

We cannot imagine the God who pursues us with creative grace. He pursued you when you had no interest in His love. He pursued you when you turned away from Him time and time again. And then the Lord does the unimaginable: He draws you to a place in your life where He might “speak into your heart” (speak kindly). His words are healing .. assuring .. restoring .. and life-changing. Hosea is a book about God using his prophet’s broken beyond repair marriage and calling His bride Israel back to himself. Hosea’s wife didn’t want to come home. She ran away twice. Hosea even paid to bring her home. But God came after you time and time and time again. When you didn’t want to be found, He found you, cleaned you up, and brought you home not in anger but in love. And God’s promise to you today is the same promise He made through Hosea’s life. Through Christ, your life has been made righteous, just, unconditionally loved, embraced in every condition and circumstance, and forever promised as faithful. God has promised His faithfulness to you. The places of trouble and strife He will transform into doors of hope. How will He do it? He’ll do it through His never-letting-you-go faithfulness .. His never-giving-up-on-you faithfulness .. and His never-withholding-His-love faithfulness. He’s walked through the streets to find you: through ridicule .. through insults .. and through the darkest rejection. The Lord’s great longing for you is to know who He is. His great gift is the promise of His Son who is your righteousness, justice, love, and compassion. They are more than words because He has promised you a life of faithfulness. And wherever you are … it only takes a moment …

“I will take you to be My wife forever. I will take you to be My wife in righteousness, justice, love, and compassion. I will take you to be My wife in faithfulness, and you will know the Lord.” Hosea 2:19-20 Christian Standard

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
