Moving in …

November 7, 2012

“The Word became flesh and moved into the neighborhood. We saw the glory with our own eyes, the one-of-a-kind glory, like Father, like Son, Generous inside and out, true from start to finish.” John 1:14 The Message

When God moved in the walls of your came down. Those walls were raised to keep everyone out and keep everything in. You might have even thought at one time that those walls would protect you. But those walls around your heart couldn’t protect you from yourself. Jesus said it was never the outside things that posed the greatest threat to your life. It was all the things inside of you all of the time that kept you from being a truly generous neighbor .. true from start to finish. And that is exactly who This Neighbor is who moved inside of your life. Jesus hasn’t just given you life .. but a generous life because that is who He truly is. He moved in when you trusted him. He didn’t even ask you to clean up the place called your-life before he moved in. In fact, Jesus knew there was a vacancy inside of you before you even realized it. He’s moved in .. call it faith .. call it trust .. and call it an obedient life made from His generous love. Christ-in-you is the generous gift that you are to pass on to others. He’s moved in to remake your life from the inside out. He’s moved in so your life will be true from start to finish. He’s moved in so that others can see for themselves that your life is a “one-of-a-kind-glory” to the Son. All he asks is a trusting heart. And He’ll even help you with the trusting part. You won’t have to keep guarding all those walls or live anxiously trying to keep everything in order. It only takes a moment …

“Through him we received both the generous gift of his life and the urgent task of passing it on to others who receive it by entering into obedient trust in Jesus. You are who you are through this gift and call of Jesus Christ!” Romans 1:4-6 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
