Look up …

November 26, 2012

“But You, O Lord, are a shield about me, My glory, and the One who lifts my head.” Psalm 3:3 New American Standard

Look up … The Lord is your shield as you walk into this day. There will be adversaries .. maybe enemies .. or just those forces that whisper that God will not help. IF you are going to live today out of the indwelling life of Christ, then you will face pressure to look down .. to look to yourself .. or to look away. But the One who lifts your head wants you to see His face and for you know that He is the One who shields your life. He lifts your head up with grace-filled strength because He doesn’t want you to fear what is in front of you. God has promised you that He will never leave you or forsake you. Jesus told that to his disciples before He ascended to the throne where He watches over your life. When you look up it is a sign of trust. You may face some difficult moments in your life today but God has grounded and rooted you in the love of His Son. You can look up because the Lord is your strength. You can look up and see the world through His eyes. There will be all kinds of distractions and diversions to keep you from looking up. But God is your shield. His name marks you. His blood claims you. Your life is hidden in His life. How easy it is to not trust the truth of God’s words over your life. The Lord God is your shield. And He wants you to look up so the world can see the difference. It’s not about having a false bravado or self-confidence. It’s about taking the time to step into this day with God’s promise that He is your shield. Jesus said as much when he said he could only do what he say his Father doing. He entrusted Him with his whole life. And that is the secret that is yours today: You have the life of Jesus abiding in you. He is your shield. Look up … He’s lifted your head so that you can see Him looking at your face. It only takes a moment …

“The secret of the Lord is with those who fear Him, And He will make them know His covenant. … God-friendship is for God-worshippers; They are the ones he confides in.” Psalm 25:14 NASB/The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
