Birthing something new …

November 27, 2012

“Pay close attention now: I’m creating new heavens and a new earth. All the earlier troubles, chaos, and pain are things of the past, to be forgotten. Look ahead with joy. Anticipate what I’m creating: I’ll create Jerusalem as sheer joy, take delight in my people. No more sounds of anguish; No more babies dying in the cradle, or old people who don’t enjoy a full lifetime; One-hundredth birthdays will be considered normal — anything less will seem like a cheat.” Isaiah 65:17-20 The Message

God had been telling his people for years that He was on the move. He told them over and over they kept walking away .. choosing another path .. choosing other gods. What did He do? He kept coming back for them. He met them in the worst conditions and reminded them that they belonged to Him. They .. the Israelites .. Abraham’s brood scattered in exile were His people. He told them they were holy .. so unique that all the other nations would know that Yahweh was their God. And still they tried to make life work out like every other nation who tried through military might .. economic oppression .. and social classes to act like they were in control. And instead of leaving them to themselves and starting over, God called them back to Himself and told them what He was going to do. They were His joy. YOU are His joy. YOU are His delight. You’ve even been like Yahweh’s early family .. trying to make life work on your terms. He birthed His Answer two thousand years ago. If God is making roads out of desert wastelands and rivers in the wilderness … will He not do even more in you who are His delight? Are you gripping this world lightly today? You may have a lot on your plate or facing an empty plate. Either way, if you find yourself trying to make life work without Christ you’ll find it a burden you cannot carry and were never meant to. In Christ .. the Lord has formed you for something better. It only takes a moment …

“Do not call to mind the former things, or ponder things of the past. Behold, I will do something new, now it will spring forth; will you not be aware of it? I will even make a roadway in the wilderness, rivers in the desert. The beasts of the field will glorify Me, the jackals and the ostriches, because I have given waters in the wilderness and rivers in the desert, to give drink to My chose people. The people whom I formed for Myself will declare my praise.” Isaiah 43:18-21 NASB

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
