It only takes a moment …

“That’s what baptism into the life of Jesus means. When we are lowered into the water, it is like the burial of Jesus; when we are raised up out of the water, it is like the resurrection of Jesus. Each of us is raised into a light-filled world by our Father so that we can see where we’re going in our new grace-sovereign country.” Romans 6:3-5 The Message

What if the real energy of your life was spent learning to love the Life that Jesus is living in you? The beginning of each day begins with this single thought and purpose. It doesn’t matter what is scheduled .. meetings .. deadlines .. telephone calls .. interruptions .. sick children .. errands .. workouts. The lists can vary but what central thought of your day is you learning to love the life of Jesus who is alive in you. There is no end to the noise of this world and all its systems vying for your affection and obedience. But it always produces the same fruit: self-focused .. self-protecting .. and self-serving lives. That’s all it can produce even with good intentions. Why? Because it is built on you focusing on making the “old you” better … not on surrendering the old you to the “new you” that is raised in Christ. The freedom that Christ offers you is through His life. His actual death and burial become your death and burial. His risen life becomes your risen life. It’s far more than just theological jargon. God, your Father wants you to truly “see” the world of grace that you’ve stepped into through Christ. It’s that same world that lets you purpose each day to let Christ live His life through you. You can be sure that the world you’re living in will try every means at its disposal to distract you from living in this grace-sovereign world. Sin will indeed tell you how you have to live and will promise you rewards all along the way. Jesus will set you free from all those former rules and false-filled drives so that you can live openly in His life .. or more importantly .. He will live openly in your life. Learning to love-Christ’s-life-in-me changes everyday. He’s in the completing business of making you whole. But it begins fresh everyday with the grace that … it only takes a moment …

“All your lives you’ve let sin tell you what to do. But thank God you’ve started listening to a new master; one whose commands set you free to live openly in his freedom.” Romans 6:18 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
