Who is this Jesus … in my life?

Jan. 4, 2012

“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9 Holman Christian

If you confess .. that is if you open your heart and let all the walls come down .. to keep God from seeing you .. what will happen? Jesus forgives. He’s faithful. He’s that SomeOne who is “completely dependable” for your life. He’s not going to hold back. Everything about Him is for you. He forgives .. wipes away .. cleanses .. takes away .. lifts it from your life .. destroys sin’s chokehold upon your life. It never means the same if you just know in your head that He forgives you. IT changes everything about you when you come and open your heart and pour it all out before Him because you know He is the ONLY ONE is qualified to hear the utter depth of your sin and speak words of complete and absolute forgiveness into your life. It may happen with someone else who is there at that moment standing for Jesus into your life .. telling you that you are loved .. pouring His forgiveness into your life .. and reminding you that it is His life in you that has set you free. This same God is making you holy and whole. He’s doing that in your life. He hasn’t abandoned you to put yourself back together. He’s faithful: He’s promised to shape your life into the image of His Son before He returns. He’s so faithful that He’s given you a “Christ-saturated future” (J. Piper) full of life and promise. The Jesus you trust into your life is faithful. He’s not walking away. He’s not giving up. He’s not abandoning you. This Jesus is the Forgiver: sins forgiven and sins cleansed. And the great gift He gives you and me are five words: “If we confess our sins”. This Jesus invites you to live out in the open in His life. He asks you to trust Him to live openly in your life. Faithful ..forgiven .. cleansed .. promised. He is all and nothing less. He’ll change your life .. and you’ll begin to change the world you live in. And today … it only takes a moment …

“May God himself, the God who makes everything holy and whole, make you holy and whole, put you together — spirit, soul, and body — and keep you fit for the coming of our Master, Jesus Christ. The One who called you is completely dependable (faithful). If he said it, he’ll do it.” 1 Thes. 5:23-24 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
