Who is this Jesus … in you?

Jan. 7, 2012

“So, as those chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience; bearing with one another, and forgiving each other whoever has a complaint against anyone; just as the Lord forgave you, so also should you.” Colossians 3:12-13 New American Standard

You’ve been called into a life you could never attain on your own. Everyday is an invitation to let Christ “live” his life through you. He is the One who works in your life so that you indeed “live out” a heart of compassion .. kindness .. humility .. gentleness .. and patience. He is the One who works in all those corners of your life past and present shaping His life in you. Your old nature wants to rule on “your” terms. The new nature you have in Christ is designed to be ruled by the peace of Christ. It is this life in Jesus that “keeps us in tune with each other”. Otherwise, we succumb to managing our own lives separately and separated from each other. But life in Christ is unlike any other life: It’s not just you being a better you. Your life is changed so that forgiveness flows into places in your life that used to set you on edge. When the peace of Christ is ruling your heart, you aren’t just gritting your teeth and overlooking an offense … you actually find yourself forgiving .. letting go .. releasing .. and even giving thanks. That’s just not possible where Jesus is not dwelling and making His life the peace that holds your life together. There is always a daily battle of wanting to do you own thing in some form or fashion. This world even celebrates and promotes you doing what you want to do. But in Christ .. you’ve turned your life over to Jesus and the LIFE he wants to live in you. It is far better than anything you can manage or formulate for today. He’s not going to force you to be compassionate .. kind .. humble .. gentle .. patient .. or forgiving. It’s just that Jesus doesn’t live any other way. You’ll face a real battle for who wants to rule your heart today. In Christ .. you already know the LIFE he wants to live through you. And in Christ .. it only takes a moment …

“Let the peace of Christ keep you in tune with each other, in step with each other. None of this going off and doing your own thing. And cultivate thankfulness” Colossians 3:15 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
