Until He’s Finished ….

January 14, 2013

“He won’t brush aside the bruised and the hurt and he won’t disregard the small and insignificant, but he’ll steadily and firmly set things right. He won’t tire out and quit. He won’t be stopped until he’s finished his work — to set things right on earth. Far-flung ocean islands wait expectantly for his teaching.” Isaiah 42:3-4 The Message

He’s been at it a long time: finding bruised men and women .. finding you disregarded .. discarded .. and disillusioned .. and finding grace-starved lives. There is a life you are meant to live and it is only found when you are alive in Christ. That life is found lowered in water and raised to new life. It is far more than a religious act or requirement. It is one of God’s light-filled gifts that leads you home. Jesus has come to find all the brushed-aside ones and all the insignificant ones that feel left out .. frozen .. and unable to set things right. That’s His “good” business: setting things right in your life and setting you firmly in his finished work. He is the life you are meant to live. And Jesus … won’t tire out .. quit .. or be stopped when it comes to raising you up to new life and making you whole in His life. He’ll find you on the most distant islands of rejection .. anger .. resentment .. and death. He won’t quit when it comes to your life. You can literally fall into His arms of grace and He’ll carry you today! Your new life: buried .. raised .. resurrected .. and going forward in his grace-sovereign country. He won’t be stopped when it comes to your life today. Every second .. minute .. hour .. day .. month .. and year is his “setting-things-right” promise for you. Your life will never tire Him out. Jesus won’t quit “this work” in you until he’s done. It is a mystery wrapped in faith trusting in Jesus for today. And for you .. it only takes a moment …

“That’s what baptism into the life of Jesus means. When we are lowered into the water, it is like the burial of Jesus; when we are raised up out of the water, it is like the resurrection of Jesus. Each of us is raised into a light-filled world by our Father so that we can see where we’re going in our new grace-sovereign country.” Romans 6:3-5 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
