Sure steps and Good neighbors …

January 22, 2013

“I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you should go; I will counsel you with My eye upon you.” Ps. 32:8 New American Standard

“The most immoral thought, the most insane idea is that God does not keep His Word”. (Burt Sorensen-ChristFollower) God keeps his promises. The world you live in assaults His promises everyday. If they can just prove God false for one moment .. then ..? What a great comfort it is to know that the Lord wants to guide your steps .. lead you .. and help you as you face today. Jesus made this promise even more intimate in connecting loving Him with keeping His word. He keeps your focus on Him because He knows you so well. He knows that you are prone to settle for good intentions .. shortcuts .. or rely on yourself in the moment. God says he will instruct you .. teach you .. and counsel you in the way you should live your life. If you will let him .. he will “keep His Word”. He will keep His promise to you to guide you. It means God will be there for your tomorrows. Jesus hasn’t left you to sort through this life of faith on your own. He’s not waiting for you to do your part first. Before you’ve taken the first step, God offers you His counsel. It’s in His Word. Will you trust Him to lead you when there doesn’t seem to be a way? Will you wait for Him to make His way clear? Will you? You can be sure that this godless world will try every distraction possible to divert your eyes .. your heart .. and your mind from loving Christ and trusting in His counsel. Is there a place in your life where you need His counsel? The same God who leads you is the same God who “moves into the neighborhood” of your life. The truth about your life is that God cares about everything that is connected with you. Every detail about you is important to Him. And today .. it only takes a moment …

“The person who knows my commandments and keeps them, that’s who loves me. And the person who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and make myself plain to him.” .. If anyone loves me, he will carefully keep my word and my Father will love him — we’ll move right into the neighborhood.John 14:21, 23 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
