You’re covered …

January 21, 2013

“I write this, dear children, to guide you out of sin. But if anyone does sin, we have a Priest-Friend in the presence of the Father: Jesus Christ, righteous Jesus. When he served as a sacrifice for our sins, he solved the sin problem for good — not only ours, but the whole world’s.” 1 John 2:1-2 The Message

It seems too simple. Jesus Christ sacrificed his life for your sin problem. No matter how well you have managed it or even used it for some good .. sin was a problem you could never solve or get rid of on your own. Your good intentions never balanced it out. Good works don’t cancel out sinful habits. Is it that simple? Could God be that loving .. that giving .. that sacrificing of Himself for all of your sinfulness .. all of it? Yes .. all of it. It is so simple that you could never have dreamed up such a scenario. God has placed all of your sin and sins on His Son. You’re covered forever. Jesus became your sin. He became everything you hated about yourself. He exchanged his life for yours. That frees you to live differently today. You’re free to live for Christ and free to learn how to live a life that is pleasing to God. It’s that simple. Is it? It is on God’s side. Your life has been put “right” with God .. not because you’ve tried harder .. but because Jesus has loved you in the most unbelievable way. He’s loved you when sin kept you from loving him. He’s loved you when your wrongs outweighed your rights. He loved you enough to solve the greatest problem of your life. The life in front of you is Christ-sacrificed .. Christ-solved .. and Christ-indwelling. Jesus is ever present for your life today. It only takes a momment …

“How? you ask. In Christ. God put the wrong on him who never did anything wrong, so we could be put right with God.” 2 Cor. 5:21 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
