The Life-changing Same ….

February 4, 2013

“Let me give you a new command. Love one another. In the same way I loved you, you love one another.” John 13:34 The Message

It’s an impossible command: You are to LOVE the same way Jesus loved you. It looks so simple. It seems simple at first. His command is two thousand years old and it is as life-changing .. life-altering .. and life-filling as when He first spoke these words. Jesus changed everything when he said: “in the same way I loved you.” You already know how Jesus has loved you and is loving you today. He’s loved you at all the worst moments of your life. He’s poured grace and forgiveness where there was once bitterness, shame, pride, and a sin-weary heart. He’s still pouring out His grace in you today. How does He love? He takes off chains that no one else sees. He doesn’t appear to condemn men and women who sin .. but seems instead to condemn those who withhold love .. forgiveness .. and mercy. “In the same way” seems to be the clearest picture and rule for your heart and life. Jesus said others will recognize that you belong to Him because of the way you are loving others. One now-promoted Major once said: “I can’t and You never said I could. You can and always said you would.” Will you make time for the “same way” of Jesus in your life? It’s not hard … It’s just the hardest thing you will do today .. loving others like Jesus has loved you. It only takes a moment …

“This is how everyone will recognize that you are my disciples, when they see the love you have for each other.” John 13:35 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
