An undivided life …?

February 7, 2013

“Teach me your way, Lord, that I may rely on your faithfulness; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name.” NIV

God’s great longing for you is an “undivided heart” .. one that is not twisted .. torn .. and tugged in every direction. He wants this for His church .. brothers and sisters in Christ sharing an undivided heart. He wants this for your marriage .. an undivided heart. God wants you to have an undivided heart where you work. That’s where the world sees what it looks like for Christ to live in you. The world sees what Christ is like .. what He has done .. and who He is in your marriage .. in your work .. and in all the minute details that fill out your day. It doesn’t take much to pull our hearts in opposite directions. But when you are walking with an undivided heart you see the world around you with a real hope that can come only from Jesus. God’s wasteful spending plan of hope was Jesus Christ. He was lavish .. extravagant .. and generous in pouring out His love through His Son. It’s a relationship grounded in a hope-filled orientation of real life in Christ. His life will grow an undivided heart in you. He’ll begin to shape your life with a single, uncompromising focus filled with grace .. redeeming and restoring not only in you, but also in the world you live in. God wants your life to be His message. And for that to happen you will need an undivided heart. That is the only heart that Christ knows because He shared that same heart with his Father. Are you beginning this day with an undivided heart? Uncluttered? A heart at rest that it is Christ-in-you who leads your life today? God knows everything there is to know about you. It only takes a moment …

“to whom God willed to make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.”

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
