Training grounds ….

“For my part, I am going to boast about nothing but the Cross of our Master, Jesus Christ. Because of that Cross, I have been crucified in relation to the world, set free from the stifling atmosphere of pleasing others and fitting into the little patterns that they dictate.” Galatians 6:14 The Message

If you were asked about what you are most proud about in your life … what would it be? Your family? Your kids accomplishments? Your work? Past achievements? We rarely think first about the Cross of Jesus Christ as what defines our lives. Maybe in like-minded groups, but rarely in open settings where the Cross would be viewed as offensive .. or an admission of weakness. We would like to think that the Cross is that important, but the world we live in has saturated us from birth with the message that our worth is found in something more. If “I”say the Cross, then “I” am opening my life for the world to see. And what will they see? Will they see a freedom not found anywhere else but in Christ. Will they see you rushing around trying to gain acceptance? Will they see you living a weary life from trying to compress your Christ-life with your everyday-life. The Cross has never been a popular platform for freedom in this world. It says very simply: “I have been crucified in relation to the world.” It is always humbling because at any given moment we can see those hidden away areas that reach back for the world’s acceptance and applause. But God doesn’t grade you with the Cross. He changes your life from the inside out .. one day at a time .. and one moment at a time. In Christ … it only takes a moment…

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
