Hide and Seek … Finding yourself in Christ

March 20, 2013

“And He was saying to them all, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross daily and follow Me. For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake, he is the one who will save it.” Luke 9:23-24

Real intimacy is about following Jesus. It looks different in each of us but the path is the same. One person may take a highly visible path, maybe huge personal sacrifice, and the end result is that lives are connected to Jesus. Another person may follow an unnoticed path of serving others .. spouse .. children .. co-workers .. friends .. or even a road of personal suffering and while the results are not as dramatic lives are connected to Jesus. Real intimacy is allowing Christ to enter and see everything in you and follow Him wherever He leads. Intimacy is about being known and knowing someone at such a level that your life is changed .. the way you live your life is changed .. the way you love is changed .. and you aren’t going back to the way it was before. Real intimacy is allowing Jesus to see: In-To-Me-See. Your cross? What does it look like? Whatever it is … it is what you pick up daily and follow Jesus. You carry it because you know that He has looked into every corner of your life. He knows you and He invites you to follow Him. You don’t carry a cross proudly. It isn’t a burden of shame. You pick up “that” which Christ carries in and through you. You follow Him. He doesn’t send you out all alone .. by yourself. Step by step .. little by little .. the world around you recedes and the life of Christ reaches into every relationship and arena of your life. It is daily .. intentional .. willingly .. lovingly .. longingly .. expectantly .. and prayerfully .. following Jesus. In — To — Me — See .. Intimacy. You used to hide and Jesus sought you out. He found you. He invites you to follow. The cross you pick up connects you to Jesus. And you need Him daily .. to show you how and to be your strength. … it only takes a moment …

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
