God’s gracious reach …

March 25, 2013

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those who are crushed in spirit. He heals the brokenhearted, binding up their wounds.” Psalm 34:18, 147:3 New International

You will need this truth about God in your life. No one is immune from the pain and suffering of living in this world. The Lord “is” close to broken-hearted men and women. He is present tense in your suffering. He’s not indifferent about anyone’s pain. There is no wound beyond the reach of the cross. Some people try to use faith as a shield from being hurt. But your faith only becomes more real in those moments and times of brokenness when you don’t possess the strength in yourself to deal with hurt. Jesus makes your faith real with his presence. He comes with real help. Your confidence grows in who He is .. not in yourself. The abiding truth of God’s help and presence is made flesh and blood in Jesus. His life in you makes life worth living. (Heb. 11:1 MSG) It is at our lowest and pain-filled moments that we find God’s love as our true friend and comfort. He enters where no one else will go in your heart. There is nothing in your life today outside of His reach. It only takes a moment …

“May Jesus himself and God our Father, who reached out in love and surprised you with gifts of unending help and confidence, put a fresh heart in you, invigorate your work, enliven your speech.” 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
