LIfe can be this …? Really?

April, 2013

“I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” Matt. 11:30 The Message

There is only one life that Christ offers you or anyone else who trusts Him. He offers you life on his terms, not on your achievements. Ever since Jesus made this offer to worn out .. weary .. and worried religion-keepers, he has kept his Word. If you try to work your head off to please God, you will find very quickly that there is no freedom and life becomes heavy to drag around day to day. The circumstances of your life can change dramatically but that doesn’t erase or alter the life” that Christ offers you today. He’s offering you a “life” that is intimately connected to his life. He’s offering you a “life” that you can find nowhere else. You can try to earn it on your own efforts and you might just make a small way of success. But you’ll never be able to sustain the freedom that Christ offers you through his life. Many men and women run aground after beginning life with Christ because they begin to try to manage life-in-Christ in their own strength and plans. Jesus only has one life to offer you. He’ll step into the heaviest places of your life. He’ll stay faithful when life is over-crowded .. over-run .. and out-of-hope. He’s there offering you his life. He offers .. you respond. He invites .. you accept. He promises .. you trust. It’s not that simple. It’s just simply the only life He offers. He offers you a life that will stop you in your tracks. He offers you exactly everything and nothing less. Isn’t one of the deepest longings of your life that of being free and learning to live out of that freedom that Christ has promised? His offer is good today .. tomorrow .. and more than you can imagine. It only takes a moment …

“Let me put this question to you: How did your new life begin? Was it by working your heads off to please God? Or was it by responding to God’s Message to you? Are you going to continue this craziness? For only crazy people would think they could complete by their own efforts what was begun by God.” Galatians 3:2 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
