How you doin’ ….?

April 16, 2013

“By entering through faith into what God has always wanted to do for us — set us right with him, make us fit for him — we have it all together with God because of our Master Jesus. And that’s not all: We throw open our doors to God and discover at the same moment that he has already thrown open his door to us. We find ourselves standing where we always hoped we might stand — out in the wide open spaces of God’s grace and glory, standing tall and shouting our praise.” Romans 5:1-2 The Message

How would you answer someone about how you are “doing” in your relationship with God? Would you be confident in saying that you had “it all together”? Probably not. But the truth about your life is out in the open with God. He’s set your life right through Christ. No amount of promises .. extra effort .. or more good than bad can stand against that moment when Jesus made your life “fit” with his life. Everything about your life is out-in-the-open with God. There isn’t anything about you that Jesus has yet to discover or decide to cover. We call it faith: trusting what God has done for our lives through Christ. We live by faith: learning that trusting in this Jesus is the real foundation “that makes life worth living”. You learn it by trying over and over to make it on your own, only to discover that Christ was there all along. We walk in faith: learning to love the life that Christ is living-in-me. For some, faith is an easy fit, seamless over the days and years. For others, faith is a day-to-day journey, struggles around every corner, sure one moment and unsure the next. Christ has thrown open the doors for you. It is the same faith whether you are facing uncertainties or have every step mapped out. It is this faith grounded in what Jesus Christ has done for your life that holds you together today. Tragedy or success .. Crisis or routine .. Struggles or safety…? You are entering this day in the wide open spaces of God’s grace and He isn’t changing the rules. There are uncertainties in every one of our lives but there is nothing uncertain about how God feels about you. You can step into this day knowing that Jesus has already covered your life. How are you doing with God? It only takes a moment …

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
