On the receiving end …

“My counsel for you is simple and straightforward: Just go ahead with what you’ve been given. You received Christ Jesus, the Master; now live him. You’re deeply rooted in him.” Colossians 2:6 The Message

When Jesus moves in .. when Christ becomes Lord(Master) of your life .. when your life is rooted in Christ .. you don’t live the way you used to live. You used to live trying to make life work with “you” at the center. When Christ moves in, it takes some time to learn how to trust His life as the center and core of your identity in this world. Why…? Because for most men and women, the world’s foundation for living is based on you being inherently good .. reasonably wise .. and naturally concerned for your neighbor. That implies that you will spend eternity with God because you’ve tried your best .. lived with good intentions .. felt sorry for the wrong things .. and tried not to judge anyone about anything. Of course, your list may be different as determined by the system you grew up in or adapted along the way. How do you begin to learn to “live Christ”? Sometimes it just seems easier to go with the flow and not fuss about letting Christ lead your life … guide your steps .. repair and restore the broken and cracked things in your life .. and heal relationships. He does all of that and more. He actually begins to change the way you look at yourself .. others .. and the world you live in. Some changes happen very quickly. Other changes seem to take a lot more patience than you possess. It takes Christ’s presence .. indwelling in you .. repairing all the damages .. making new life where a once half-alive version of you tried to convince yourself and others that life was good. When Jesus moved in, your life began to respond to God .. without guilt .. without shame .. and without “you” having to be in control. And it’s not only you, but others no longer control your life as well. His counsel was simple: Life is in Christ .. Apart from him is not life. This Jesus is Lord of your life. He’ll teach you, guide you, and show you how to live the Life he longs to live in you. It only takes a moment …

“When you were stuck in your old sin-dead life, you were incapable of responding to God. God brought you alive — right along with Christ. Think of it! All sins forgiven, the slate wiped clean, that old arrest warrant canceled and nailed to Christ’s cross.” Colossians 2:13-14 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
