Healthy Die-eating….

May 1, 2013

“They’re a lot of hot air, that’s all they are. They’re completely out of touch with the source of life, Christ, who puts us together in one piece, whose very breath and blood flow through us. He is the Head and we are the body. We can grow up healthy in God only as he nourishes us.” Colossians 2:19 The Message

Everyone (outside of Christ) tries to build a way of life that mimics who Jesus is. They may not use his name or even suggest a comparison, but they want the life that He offers. They want a cross-less source .. a grave-less resurrection .. and a spirit-less empowered life. They want all of that and want you to live the same way without mentioning Jesus. His life brings everything out into the open .. out into the light .. out into the truth. Your life (in Christ) has only one source: Jesus. Your whole identity is found through his very breath and blood. The battle is very real in all of this. It’s real everyday. Will Christ be the source that nourishes you or will you try to substitute something else? Your whole health and well-being is in Christ. These bodies we wear will fail us and fade over time. An old prophet long ago spoke of this Messiah in whom: “there’ll be no limits to the wholeness he brings.”. Wholeness is not something that looks the same in everyone. You can’t prescribe it .. legislate it .. or regulate it. The broken and dislocated parts in you are different from anyone else. And yet, the wholeness that Jesus offers you in his life yields the same grace-filled life as in another. Together, we evidence His crucified .. risen .. indwelling life. We .. you and I are nourished in forgiveness .. grace .. love .. faithfulness .. patience .. long-suffering .. compassion .. joy .. endurance .. hope .. perseverance .. and thankfulness. At any given moment, you’ll find multiple parts and pieces being nourished and made whole in you. It fits into your marriage .. family .. friends .. brothers and sisters .. and into His body. Your life (in Christ) will only make sense with Jesus as the Head. A wise king once wrote: “Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he’s the one who will keep you on track.” Pr. 3:5-6. They’re ancient words still brimming with life through Jesus. It only takes a moment …

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
