Are you wide awake …?

“But you are the ones chosen by God, chosen for the high calling of priestly work, chosen to be a holy people, God’s instruments to do his work and speak out for him., to tell others of the night-and-day difference he made for you — from nothing to something, from rejected to accepted.” 1 Peter 2:9-10 The Message

Here is the out-in-the-open secret about your life and God’s calling: HE has chosen you to be HIS hands and voice to tell others of the “night and day difference” Jesus has made in your life. He’s not waiting around for your life to be perfectly fit together .. problem free .. stress free .. and temptation free. In fact, your life will be on display in the midst of all those areas. That’s exactly where men and women struggle everyday to feel and believe that God would accept them. You’ve been in that very spot, and may even struggle with it from time to time. But God is faithful. His Spirit makes prayers out of all of your struggles and broken sentences when you don’t know how to pray. All that God ever asks of you is that you be yourself before Him. He’s not looking for you to role play or make promises you cannot keep. How rarely do we really love others as if “our lives depended on it”. That would mean far less activities and much more focus on caring deeply for those around your life. It means making deliberate room for them in your heart. Because of Jesus abiding in your life .. dwelling in your life .. and living by faith in your heart and mind, you are God’s chosen man and woman to serve him today. Who around you will you love today? Will you love them for Christ? God knows what your day holds. Begin with Jesus … it only takes a moment …

“Everything in the world is about to be wrapped up, so take nothing for granted. Stay wide-awake in prayer. Most of all, love each other as if your life depended on it.” 1 Peter 4:7 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
