Picked out of the line-up…

“How blessed is God! And what a blessing he is! He’s the Father of our Master, Jesus Christ, and takes us to the high places of blessing in him. Long before he laid down earth’s foundations, he had us in mind, had settled on us as the focus of his love, to be made whole and holy by his love.” Ephesians 1:3-4 The Message

God was thinking about you in the very beginning. What is even more amazing is that He is actually making your life whole and holy through the love of Christ. That takes into account every facet of your life: your past .. present .. and future. No one can brag or boast about being chosen and adopted into Christ’s family. In fact, you can only shake your head at the thought that the God of the universe “picked” you. You can look all around your life and think that any number of others are more deserving .. more productive .. and more gifted. But God picked you! Through all those circumstances .. all those years .. all those dead-ends and starts and stops .. God “adopted” you through Jesus. He is that patient .. that compassionate .. that understanding .. that loving .. that giving .. and that dying to make you his own. Why you…? Because God picked you. The one thing that connects this family exclusively is Jesus .. and everything unlike Him will fade away in your life. The closer you walk with Jesus today, the less you’ll want to hold on to things that lead you away from Christ. (And they can be good things as well.) You’ll find yourself letting go of past hurts that you’ve carried too long. You’ll find yourself walking in a direction that leads toward rest and makes time for others. You’ll find yourself tasting thankfulness over the course of a day or days. You’ll find your life in Christ .. and not in the things you are doing. Wy? Because God picked you! And today … only takes a moment …

“Long, long ago he decided to adopt us into his family through Jesus Christ. (What pleasure he took in planning this!) He wanted us to enter into the celebration of his lavish gift-giving by the hand of his beloved Son.” Ephesians 1:5-6 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
