Mission filled life…

June 28, 2013

“In the same way that you gave me a mission in the world, I give them a mission in the world. I’m consecrating myself for their sakes .. So they’ll be truth-consecrated in their mission.” John 17:19 The Message

Your life’s mission is to represent Jesus Christ in every area and aspect of your life. That thought alone can be paralyzing for some. For others, your life is now part of God’s business of revealing the truth about life and his kingdom .. in a fallen un-truth saturated world. It is not nor will ever be a part time or casual mission. The need is too great and you only have to look around the world you live in everyday. You can’t do it on your own. You’ll become worn out and weary by the never-ending assault on the Person you represent. You were given a mission a long time ago … even before you were born. And the only way you could ever live out this truth-consecrated mission is because Jesus gave his life for you. It seems so simple .. and yet we drift away every time we try to “do” this mission with Christ in our lives. Your mission is to show the world you live in what the truth is about God … about Jesus … and what a life in Christ looks like inside and out. You’ll face real battles and struggles. Some of them will feel like they are tearing out your heart. You’ll face moments and periods of loneliness and a longing for all this mess in the world you live in to end. There is a real enemy who will assault your senses with the idea that your life is underfunded and un-resourced for a God-sized mission. But that would not be true … You belong to Jesus … He gave his life for you to be truth-consecrated … soaked through and through with God’s truth in a half-truth, half-baked world. You are the message that life in Jesus can be and is radically different. The way you love is different because it points not to you but to Christ. It is a big mission with an even bigger life changing message .. and You are His representative. It only takes a moment…

“God has given us the task of telling everyone what he is doing. We’re Christ’s representatives. God uses us to persuade men and women to drop their differences and enter into God’s work of making things right between them” 2 Corinthians 5:19 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
