Salt-seasoning and God-flavoring …

July 9, 2013

“So spacious is he, so roomy, that everything of God finds its proper place in him without crowding.” Colossians 1:19 The Message

What is God up to in your life? Jesus said your life was to be salt-seasoning and God-flavoring .. and a light on a hill. Most of us .. maybe you .. would rather not have your life be a “light” because it will draw attention to your life. Others will look at you and measure your words and your actions .. and you alone possess the knowledge of how far short you fall from the words and all the different motives that go into your actions. But Jesus described your life as His follower. Your life is to become everything He says if you belong to Him. Belong is a strong word. It means you’ve turned over every corner of your life to the One who created all the corners that make up all the rooms in your heart. In some of those rooms you’ve stored things: memories .. hurts .. wounds .. fears .. broken things .. and even things that don’t mean much to others but you treasure them anyway. What is God up to in your life? He’s making your life “spacious” because that is the only way Jesus lives in a woman’s or man’s life. That’s the only way He will live in you. All those things inside of you find their “proper place in him without crowding.” Jesus knows how to search through all those places in your life that are crowded. He knows all about the mistakes inside .. all the unfinished areas .. and all the broken places. And this is God’s gift to you … his life … given completely for you. Anything less will not bring you over to His side of life .. of wholeness and holiness. One man described holiness as “a strong family likeness to Jesus”. This is what God is up to in your life today. His work is real, roomy, uncrowded, complete, whole and holy. It only takes a moment to find your place in Him today. It only takes a moment for Jesus to find THAT place in you …

“But now, by giving himself completely at the Cross, actually dying for you, Christ brought you over to God’s side and put your lives together, whole and holy in his presence.” Colossians 1:22 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
