What’s left for you to do …?

July 11, 2013

“When the Friend I plan to send you from the Father comes –the Spirit of truth issuing from the Father — he will confirm everything about me. You, too, from your side must give your confirming evidence, since you are in this with me from the start.” John 15:26-27 The Message

You were sent the Friend … the Holy Spirit … filled with promise … power … and presence. PROMISE-POWER-PRESENCE: JESUS LEFT YOU WITH THIS! He left you “in relationship” with the Father and the Son .. through the Spirit. Too often, we step right over this incredible gift that Jesus left us so that we can get on with the next big moment. All the people who inhabit this world right at this moment .. and Jesus picked you. He didn’t simply toss you in as an after thought to balance all the incredibly-gifted .. better-suited .. more-successful people he really wanted. He picked you to live the life He lived. He left you the Friend so that your life would evidence His Life. Jesus left you His relationship and the day to day freedom to walk with him … to trust Him today … and to serve Him in the lives you serve everyday. That’s right .. you serve Him .. Jesus .. in the lives of others. How? The Holy Spirit leads and shows you. Your part is to walk by faith .. another gift He left you. More often than not, you don’t get to pick and choose the “everyday” lives that will cross your path. If you are choosing .. you probably aren’t serving. Jesus was approached by officers and outcasts. He didn’t leave a magic formula. He left the scariest possible ingredients: grace .. a few believers .. and a promise to lead them. His life is your example. He faced hunger … He didn’t build anything other that a few men and women who would lay out their lives. He didn’t leave you as program managers. He left you with a new heart .. He left you the gift of faith. He left you a Friend-relationship .. the foundation of every relationship you will share. He left you His grace and peace .. currency for broken lives and hope for the starving lives all around you. There’s a lot left for you to do today. It only takes a moment ..

“This is the kind of life you’ve been invited into, the kind of life Christ lived. He suffered everything that came his way so you would know that it could be done, and also know how to do it, step-by step.” 1 Peter 2:21 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
