What is the secret…?

July 17, 2013

“God, the Master, The Holy of Israel, has this solemn counsel: “Your salvation requires you to turn back to me and stop your silly efforts to save yourselves. Your strength will come from settling down in complete dependence on me–” Isaiah 30:15 The Message

What is the secret…?

You were designed … created … and made to live in complete dependence. You were also born with a self-determination to save yourself and make life work on your terms. There are fundamentals to both ways of living. God invites you to turn your life over to Him. You will find that He will be your strength. It takes getting used to because you’re so used to having to find your own strength with your own resources. The “other way” of living is all up to you. You have to find a new purpose .. new hope .. and new strength around every turn or circumstance because it is up to you. Your life will only find real life … trusting life … saving life … settling down life when you turn back to Jesus. He is the foundation for everything in your life. He promises to be that foundation in your life that you secretly long for. Sometimes “turning back” is a life-changing moment … sometimes “turning-back” is starting over … and sometimes “turning back” is settling down in complete dependence on God and not yourself. You’ll find a new strength that can only arrive when you make Christ the foundation for how you are going to live. You’ll face any number of moments where the old you will want to take over. It may work for the short term but it won’t last. In the quiet of the night .. in a moment during the day .. in the car .. or just at a certain moment you’ll find yourself sighing or longing for life on different terms. That’s exactly what Jesus offers you today. It only takes a moment to turn back … settle down … and trust in the Saving One.

“The fundamental fact of existence is that this trust in God, this faith, is the firm foundation under everything that makes life worth living….” Hebrews 11:1 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
