What does God want for your life…?

July 18, 2013

”My Father is working straight through, even on the Sabbath. So am I.” John 5:17 The Message

God wants your life to have room for His Son. He wants free you from living independently from Him. And He wants to intimately include you in everything He is doing. Jesus shows you what life looks like when it is lived completely in relationship with the Father. An independent life ends up in confusion … conflict … and dis-ease. (It doesn’t have to be secretly sinful … just you living life on your terms.) The world around you will even applaud all of your self-efforts to improve yourself and even the help you do for others. Jesus didn’t leave you alone to figure it out for yourself. He said he would send the Holy Spirit to live in you and lead you in everything connected to His life in you and your life with Him. The cross was the death of your independence. We rarely view independence as a prison, but separated from God, it is exactly that. The world sells independence as self-sufficiency .. self-control .. and self-determination. And there is a secret place inside of you that wants all of those self-attributes at times. It’s usually when life on the outside is pressing against life on the inside. Jesus .. with all of his power did not seek to live or work apart from his Father. He showed us what life looks like abiding in His Father’s love. It’s the same relationship He wants for you today. He wants to free you from the snare of striving for independence. He wants you to know the same kind of love and have the same kind of life that He has with the Father. He wants you to live out of a Father-filled … Son-indwelling … Spirit-living life. God wants nothing less for you than the same love the Son lives today. What do you want today. It only takes a moment …

“So Jesus explained himself at length. “I’m telling you this straight. The Son can’t independently do a thing, only what he sees the Father doing. What the Father does, the Son does. The Father loves the Son and includes him in everything he is doing.” John 5:19-20 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
