Is This For Real…?

July 24, 2013

“…Christ in you, the hope of glory.” Colossians 1:27 New American Standard

It is life-changing real. It is so real that God uses everything in your life .. good parts of you .. bad parts of you (yes .. there are flaws and flat spots in your life) .. barely noticeable and daily visible parts all combined and being shaped so that your life becomes the “physical, visible, audible expression of the glory of Jesus Christ”. On some days you cannot imagine that God would actually want your life to be so visible with His name attached. And then there are those moments where you are intimately aware and humbly in awe that this nail-scarred Lord is actually alive in your life and working through your life. This is the greatest of secrets made so real and so visible in the world. Your life is the living expression of God’s grace: Christ is in you. It’s not a religious statement. It’s not a “look at me” statement. It’s not about you … it’s about the reality of Jesus Christ living His life in you. The possibilities of every day carry all the ingredients of God working through all the layers of darkness and death, bringing Light and Grace into the world through you. Does that make you perfect? No. But it does mean that God wants to open your eyes to this “grace-sovereign country” that you live in and represent. Will you slip up … yep. Will you have doubts and fears … yep. Will you lose your patience .. get angry .. and come to the end of your rope … yep. And where will Jesus be in all of this? He’ll be in you .. right alongside .. abiding .. indwelling .. filling you with grace .. and freeing you to love like never before. Is this for real? Yes. Is it the truth about your life? Yes. And today … it only takes a moment …

“Each of us is raised into a light-filled world by our Father so that we can see where we’re going in our new grace-sovereign country.” Romans 6:5 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
