God’s at work …

August 21, 2013

“There has never been the slightest doubt in my mind that the God who started this great work in you would keep at it and bring it to a flourishing finish on the very day Christ Jesus appears.” Philippians 1:6 The Message

What is amazing is that God is finishing his “finished” work of Christ’s life in you at this very moment. He never takes a holiday or decides to leave you alone until you ask for his help or begin to do things for him. He’s at work in your life .. shaping you with the very power that raised his Son from the grave. Sure .. there are plenty of incomplete parts of your life. You are well aware of more than a few that trip you up .. cause heartaches .. and even make you doubt that God really cares or really is good. On the outside, the cross declares that you don’t have to keep living a dead life. The life God has for you is much more. On the inside, His Spirit is working constantly .. restoring you completely .. and reminding you continuously that you are worth Christ’s life. He’s making that real in every area of your heart .. in your mind .. and in your daily strength. A YMCA chaplain in Egypt wrote during a war that it is in the drudgery and unnoticed places that God is often found doing his deepest work. That way the focus isn’t on you. The real focus is God’s focus of shaping your life to be the “physical — visible — audible expression of the glory of Jesus Christ”. There are high moments and low moments. There are moments of feeling wanted and loved and moments of wondering if anyone notices you … or even wondering if your life really matters. The Cross says your life matters. God isn’t going to quit. He isn’t going to change His mind about you. So today … God is at work in your life. Christ is alive in your life. He keeps His word …. It only takes a moment …

“When God lives and breathes in you (and he does, as surely as he did in Jesus), you are delivered from that dead life. With his Spirit living in you, your body will be as alive as Christ’s!” Romans 8:11 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
