Who would ever think….?

August 26, 2013

“Don’t be afraid, I’ve redeemed you. I’ve called your name. You’re mine. When you’re in over your head, I’ll be there with you. When you’re in over your head, I’ll be there with you. ….” Isaiah 43:2-3 The Message

They are old words spoken by a man named “God Saves”. He spoke about a God who is holy. He’s so holy that just being in his presence brings to the forefront everything you’ve ever done. And what you see in your heart is everything, no matter how great or small, that disqualifies you from being in his presence. And what he does next is tell you “not to be afraid”. God knows that being afraid is part and parcel of living in a fallen dis-eased world. But he goes even further: He declares to you that you are his .. redeemed .. life exchanged .. no longer alone .. shame covered .. saving power unleashed. All that power unleashed on your behalf by a man who died without a “thought” for his own life compared to yours. Over the course of his entire life, he never hurt a soul. He never said one word that wasn’t true. And that LIFE is the one that claimed your life. He hasn’t just claimed for one time. He’s claimed everything that has to do with your life. Beaten bloody for your sins … And today you can walk into this day in the power of the name of Jesus. He has never and will never say an untrue word about you. You can be sure that the world you live will say untruths about you. But your life has been bought by the truth of Jesus’ life … and he will never leave your side. It only takes a moment ….

“Who believes what we’ve heard and seen? Who would have thought God’s saving power would look like this? … He died without a thought for his own welfare, beaten bloody for the sins of my people. They buried him with the wicked, threw him in a grave with a rich man, even though he’s never hurt a soul or said one word that wasn’t true.” Isaiah 53:1, 8-9 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
