He won’t walk away …

September 5, 2013

“For even if the mountains walk away and the hills fall to pieces, My love won’t walk away from you, my covenant commitment of peace won’t fall apart.” The God who has compassion on you says so.” Isaiah 54:10 The Message

God picked a scraggly group of shepherds, farmers and their families and told them the would be “His people”. They would be loved with an everlasting love. They would be protected .. provided .. and prosper through trusting Him. He made a covenant .. a binding agreement that tied Him to them forever. He made that covenant on the basis of who He is .. not on how well they trusted or performed. Repeatedly they entered into side deals and agreements with other nations and peoples who didn’t believe in their God .. the covenant-keeping God. They even turned their backs on Him and thought they could make life easier on their own. And what did God do? He didn’t walk away from them. He didn’t give up on them. He didn’t quit on them. Why…? Because He had made a covenant promise and He wasn’t backing out … even though He had every right and reason to walk away. You’re in that covenant. God’s not mad at you. He knows where you’ve looked elsewhere for what He wants to be and provide into your life. His covenant peace with you became a skin-worded man named Jesus. He is that mediator .. that One who makes peace .. keeps peace .. and pours the peace of God into your hearts when you are failing or feel outside of His love. He’s not walking out on you. He’s not walking away. In fact, at this very moment … the Lord is walking towards you. Your life is where He wants to dwell. Your life is where His peace will guard you faithfully. He’s not walking away from you … breathe in this truth and exhale a spirit of grateful thanks. It only takes a moment ….

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. … For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all …” Philippians 4:6-7, 1 Timothy 2:5-6 New American Standard

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
