First-hand living…

October 2, 2013

“This is the brand-new covenant that I will make with Israel when the time comes. I will put my law within them — write it on their hearts! — and be their God. And they will be my people. They will no longer go around setting up schools to teach each other about God. They’ll know me first-hand, the dull and the bright, the smart and the slow. I’ll wipe the slate clean for each of them. I’ll forget they ever sinned!” God’s Decree Jeremiah 31:33-34 The Message

It didn’t matter to God. The people: men and women .. families .. and strangers that He picked to be His people all share the same trait. They needed a new heart and God was the only One who could give them one. No matter how hard they tried. No matter how many times they turned their backs on Him. No matter how many other things they tried to substitute for God … He changed their hearts so that they would know Him. It’s still the same today. No matter how far you’ve strayed. No matter how far you’ve wandered. No matter how many things you’ve tried to substitute for God … He still gives a fresh start and new heart to “anyone united with the Messiah”. And anyone means anyone. It means your life has been created new in Christ. It’s not something you’ve done. It’s everything that Christ has done and is doing in you. On the outside you may be seen as being pleasant and easy-going. You may be seen as being distant and disagreeable. But on the inside where it really counts … God is making something NEW. He even gives you the gift of trust. It takes that to trust what God is doing in your life. There are some many places inside of us that resist and places of betrayal that cause us to be suspicious of this first-hand knowing God. Jesus changes you on the inside where it really counts. It may happen in an instant or over a span of time. He knows exactly what it takes for you to trust Him and let Him work inside your life. He has only one thing to offer: a new life. It only takes a moment …

“Now we look inside, and what we see is that anyone united with the Messiah gets a fresh start, is created new. The old life is gone; a new life burgeons! 2 Corinthians 5:17 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
