Finding the true Easter Egg …

October 3, 2013

“Birds find nook and crannies in your house, sparrows and swallows make nests there. They lay their eggs and raise their young, singing their songs in the place where we worship. God-of-Angel-Armies! King! God! How blessed they are to live and sing there!” Psalm 84:3-4 The Message

A Shepherd-turned-King wrote a song about living in God’s Presence and longing for that reality more than any place on earth. You were made for such worship .. to know the Lord .. to long for Him .. and to sing with more freedom and love than you can imagine. You were made for such moments. Jesus pointed out that your heavenly Father oversees bird feeding while all the more cares for your life. The world you live in creates anxieties and worries over food .. clothing .. and shelter. More often than not, we (you and I) create our own anxieties over everyday living because we (you and I) worry about whether the Lord .. our heavenly Father .. the God-of-Angel-Armies will take care of us (You and me). The Shepherd-King said one day in God’s house was worth a thousand days. The Shepherd-Savior said that our (yours and mine) sole focus should be to live for God’s kingdom today .. to live carefree in His care .. to rest in the indwelling knowledge that our Father cares about our cares. He cares even more than we do. We (you and I) look at birds and dismiss them. They are allowed front row seats in worship. Their babies grow up in God’s presence. They sing the songs of God’s greatness and goodness. And yet, they have never heard the Lord say “Trust Me .. Follow Me .. Walk with Me .. Find your real life in Me”. The Good-Shepherd knows your voice. He knows your worries .. each one of them. He knows the sounds of your breathing when you are at rest and when you despair. He knows you enough and loves you enough to lay down His life so that you would trust in His care. Birds live in the nooks and crannies of His house .. but His face is on you today. Will you trust His care of your life? It only takes a moment …

“Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they?” Matt. 6:26 New American Standard

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
