Is there a singing curfew in heaven…?

October 7, 2013

“For you have made the Lord, my refuge, Even the Most High, your dwelling place.” Psalm 91:9 New American Standard

One of the great things about God is that He knows how long it takes for you to let Him be “enough”. He doesn’t compare your life to someone else. He knows exactly how you were formed and all the ingredients that have shaped your life along the way. Your life’s history is not a surprise to Him. He knows about all those fractured places inside your life. And instead of waiting on the sidelines or remaining at a distance, this Mighty One declares that He will save you .. quiet you in His love .. and rejoice over your life with gladness and singing. Can you grasp that image? God is rejoicing over your life with gladness! He’s singing over your life with joy! Your life brings God joy! When you show up bruised .. battered .. and broken, the Lord doesn’t turn you away. He invites you to come to Him and find rest. He invites you inside .. into His life .. into grace. He knows about your life because there wasn’t a day he wasn’t accused of something false or attacked because He lavished his Father’s grace on less-than-deserving men and women .. just like you. Jesus didn’t save you because you had your life all together. He saved you so that you would know and learn over the course of your life that He is the only true shelter and security for life. You can find temporary refuge anywhere, but it won’t hold together when you really need it. The psalmist wrote a song about living securely in God’s presence. The prophet spoke about the One who is Mighty to Save during a time when everyone was trying to make God work on their terms. He called them out of their blindness and complacency to trust in the Only One who would deliver them. Jesus is your refuge for today and all tomorrows. He wants more than anything to dwell in your heart today. His longing is for you to know such gladness and joy over your life. There is nothing over your life that can compare to His might .. or mercy. He has the scars to prove it..! It only takes a moment …

“The Lord your God in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.” Zephaniah 3:17 New King James

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
