Dinner invitations …

” … and my people, my God-defined people, respond by humbling themselves, praying, seeking my presence, and turning their backs on their wicked lives, I’ll be there ready for you: I’ll listen from heaven, forgive their sins, and restore their land to health.” 2 Chronicles 7:14 The Message

God’s love never runs out and God never gives up inviting you to return and step into a changed life. If you wonder if the Lord really hears your prayers when you are at your lowest … He does. He’s already responded. He told you what His response will always be: he’ll listen, he’ll forgive your sins, and restore your land. A God-defined person? Would that be you? Does He define your life? He’s come calling .. even inviting himself to your house for dinner. Would you ever dream of inviting disruptive and disrespectable people to join you and Jesus for dinner? What would a table of un-healthy guests look like in your home? The truth is every one of us is that disrespectable person invited to join Jesus over a meal. And what you discover is He really enjoys your company. Your defenses come down. There’s nothing religious about Him. He is All-Life .. absolutely present for anything in your life. Life with Jesus is a changed life. You may try to bring something along of your past, but it won’t fit or satisfy after a while. There’s nothing in you that would cause Jesus to turn away. Because Jesus has heard your prayer .. forgiven you .. and is even now restoring the “land” of your life to health. He hasn’t left it up to you to change your own life. Jesus already knows that you can’t heal yourself from what consumes you on the inside. So .. He invites you to come just as you are. What He promises is a changed life. He’ll do the changing in you. He is the change. And the offer … It only takes a moment …

“Levi gave a large dinner at his home for Jesus. Everybody was there, taxmen and other disreputable characters as guests at the dinner. “Who needs a doctor; the healthy or the sick? I’m here inviting outsiders, not insiders– an invitation to a changed life, changed inside and out.” Luke 5:29-32 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
