Playing with fire ….

October 10, 2013

“What a God we have! And how fortunate we are to have him, this Father of our Master Jesus! Because Jesus was raised from the dead, we’ve been given a brand-new life and have everything to live for, including a future in heaven…” 1 Peter 1:3 The Message

There is this great truth that covers your life in faith: your sins are forgiven .. God is the healer over your life .. you’re redeemed out of darkness and despair .. you’re crowned in love and compassion .. and the Lord is growing your life to be satisfied in His goodness. All of that and more fill your life and reach into every area of who you are. But something else even greater shapes your life: you’ve been given a “brand-new life” through the resurrection of Jesus from the dead. That’s not just a theological statement. It literally defines who you are. Your life is defined by Jesus Christ. What makes that so uncomfortable at times is that you are intimately aware of those flaws .. gaps .. and places of doubt that lead you to think that God must be holding back from you until you fill in all those deficit areas. Hold back…? Hardly. God is using all those places where you struggle and have struggled to “burn off” those impurities in your life so that what remains truly brings glory and honor to Christ. It may at times feel .. other times it may feel like a desert .. and even other times moments of feeling all alone. But for you is this truth today: You can praise your heavenly Father for the brand-new life you have in Christ. It’s through His life that everything that is true .. genuine .. and pure is being formed in you. And what is true about your life in Christ is worth more than all the gold found on this earth. God never panics when it comes to your life. You’ve got all those unique and sometimes quirky ways about your life and Jesus is working through all of it, so that what remains will honor His life. You’ve got a brand new life through Christ .. maybe it is time to learn to love His life in your today. It only takes a moment …

“In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ,…” 1 Peter 1:6-7 New King James

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
