Renewed foundations …

October 11, 2013

“You who laid the foundations of the earth, So that it should not be moved forever…” Psalm 104:5 New King James

It’s easy to get lost and drift away. It can happen during a day or gradually turn into long period time where you think about God .. you know you “should” do something about it .. but it just seems to take too much effort to focus all your energies on God. The truth is: you’ll have more energy for life when you make Christ the foundation for living .. for how you love .. and for everything that goes into your life. When was the last time you said with all your heart and passion: “Praise the Lord, O my soul!” It’s not something we regularly do. Our modern minds are not geared to speaking so intimately from our soul. And yet, the one real foundation for living your life is Jesus Christ. His life is the only one that will withstand the battles you face .. the temptations you face .. and the kinds of suffering you will face in this life. The Lord is at work over all his creation .. arranging meals .. causing growth and new births .. and redeeming lives from false foundations. When Christ is your foundation, you don’t focus on getting the attention or credit. When Christ is your foundation, you begin to see creation as part of God’s redeeming work and love. When Christ is your foundation, you know that you don’t walk alone .. ever. The psalmist ends his song with: Let sinners be consumed from the earth and let the wicked be no more. Bless the Lord, O my soul. Praise the Lord1!” Your life expands when Christ is your foundation because you begin seeing this world through His eyes. He’s already seen your world. He has the scars to prove it. More importantly, He has the love that you need that will make you whole. There is one foundation for living today. Christ … he only takes a moment …

“Remember, there is only one foundation, the one already laid: Jesus Christ.” 1 Corinthians 3:11 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
