Name calling …

October 15, 2013

“For whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Romans 10:13 (Joel 2:32) New King James

If you’ve ever wondered about your life and Jesus, here is the gift of His promise. It doesn’t matter who you are .. what you have .. or where you are at “that” moment when you call on the whole-healing-saving-delivering-rescuing NAME of Jesus. At that moment you realize that there is only one name so clear .. so powerful .. and so gracious that can save you. It is the promise that will stay with you forever. Your own heart may fail you .. your mind become confused .. or you just hear an impression that the NAME of Jesus that you called upon in your greatest need and maybe worst moment can no longer sustain you or help you. It’s a lie. That NAME has been written upon your heart .. across your mind .. and saturates your spirit with God’s salvation hospitality. You’re not only welcome but wanted because the NAME of Jesus has been written into everything that has to do with your life. And what did you do…? You trusted His words. You trusted in His life. And even with unfinished areas of your life front and center … you trust Him now. Whoever: that’s you .. that’s a child .. a spouse .. a friend .. someone you work with .. even a stranger who calls on the name of the Lord .. this Jesus will be saved. And who does God entrust that great promise..? You are that NAME bearer .. however imperfect .. just filled with grace. Who around you is alive but can’t walk .. can’t see .. is lame because of the past .. can’t hear .. and live as though no one accepts them. You know differently. You’ve been there. You are that word of saving hospitality inviting them inside the Father’s love and the Son’s care. Whoever means whoever. That’s what made the religiously uptight so angry at Jesus. He really meant whoever and they came from everywhere to receive such a gift. It’s yours … and it only takes a moment …

“Go back and tell John what you have seen and heard: The blind see, The lame walk, Lepers are cleansed, The deaf hear, The head are raised, The wretched of the earth have God’s salvation hospitality extended to them.” Luke 7:22 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
