“You are altogether beautiful, my darling, And there is no blemish in you.” Song of Solomon 4:7 New American Standard
Solomon wrote these words about love .. God’s love .. love between a man and a woman .. and the love we now know with Christ and his bride: the church. They are intimate words that reach into the deepest places of your heart. They are words of beauty that God speaks into all the scars of your life. They are words of truth that God .. in his Spirit .. speaks over your life. You are beautiful in God’s eyes. He doesn’t see any blemish .. flaw .. or spot in you. Yes, he is aware of how you look at yourself and wonder how the Lord could love you so deeply .. so perfectly .. and so completely. When it comes to loving you, Jesus doesn’t hold anything of himself back from you. He loved you completely in surrendering his life to restore your beauty .. God created .. God redeemed .. God present. Christ’s indwelling life is working in you today to free you to know and live blemish-less in his presence .. filled with his love .. infectious with his beauty. There is an ongoing assault upon your life to try to make you look at yourself as flawed .. lacking .. and undeserving of God’s acceptance. It’s in those very places and moments where Jesus has exchanged his life for everything in your life. How do you repay such a gift? You love Him with the gift of faith that confesses that it is in Christ that makes your life worth living. Anything else robs the beauty of His risen life in you. And the amazing truth about your life is how God’s beauty is revealed through your life today. It’s not up to you to make that happen. It’s His life that makes you come alive to live “all out for God”. It doesn’t require an extra effort. It only takes a moment …
“Through the Spirit, Christ offered himself as an unblemished sacrifice, freeing us from all those dead-end efforts to make ourselves respectable, so that we can live all out for God.” Hebrews 9:14 The Message
