Under Construction …

October 30,2013

“A highway shall be there, And it shall be called the Highway of Holiness. The unclean shall not pass over it … but the redeemed shall walk there … and the ransomed of The Lord shall return..” Isaiah 35:8-10 New King James

You’ve seen them, those large signs alerting you to “Road Construction” ahead. It means your life is moving towards a disruption .. an interruption .. and the possibility out you an eruption. You’ve got your schedule .. your plans .. and your timeframe for how life needs to work. Faith is by its very nature a life under construction. There are parts that have to be demolished. There are changes that happen which are totally out of your control. There is your design and there is God’s design. What God is designing is a life that is shaped out of the blind .. lame .. deaf .. confused .. and desolate places of your life. It might even be worse .. much worse. But God is making your life for a Road that only the redeemed and ransomed can travel on. Your life is under that kind if serious and deliberate construction. People look for shortcuts. They or you often will trade away something essential for convenience as Long as you can stay in control. God promised Israel that He would complete their lives, even after they tried shortcuts and even around all the broken places of their lives suffered through injustices. Jesus described his own life as a Road .. a Way of life that didn’t have shortcuts .. only completion. In fact, He promised to complete the work he started in you. The Cross is that sign that says Road Construction ahead .. expect delays. You have to decide who you are going to trust. You may find yourself impatient .. even irritated at others who seem to make faster progress .. or secretly proud of yourself when you take a shortcut. There is only one Way that this road will ever be finished. Seat belts are optional. It only takes a moment …

“I am the Road, also the Truth, also the Life. No one gets to the Father apart from me.” John 14:6 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
