Everyone … that means you

October 31, 2013

“Ho! Everyone who thirsts, Come to the waters, And you who have no money, Come, buy and eat. Yes, come buy wine and milk without and without price. Why do you spend money for what is not bread, and your wages for what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, And let your soul delight itself in abundance.” Isaiah 54:1-2 Mew King James

It is the story that seems too good to be true. How can you buy anything without money? And when you have nothing to offer, you are invited to come drink the waters that will satisfy your life. And God doesn’t stop there .. He invites you to stop looking for “things” that will never satisfy you. Instead of condemning, He says: “Listen carefully to Me”. Then Jesus invites you to walk with him .. work with him .. and watch how He lives life. So much of your life is forced. And Jesus invites you to “learn” the unforced rhythms of grace”. You can’t just dd that to your life. You have to stop doing all the things that are wearing you out. You think: “It just takes too much energy to stop .. It just won’t work .. Do I really have to stop?” Yes .. You have to come to that moment where you realize that you are wearing yourself out trying to live a life God never intended you to live. You can be exhausted .. You can be empty .. You can be on top of the world. But when God speaks that invitation into your life, it doesn’t how much you have or how much you lack. That invitation is wide open .. completely free .. and guaranteed by Jesus. He won’t put “anything” on you that is too heavy or “ill-fitting”. He won’t force you. It’s yours to take .. receive .. and find rest. It only takes a moment …

“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me — watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn how to live freely and lightly.” 11:28-30 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
