Grass Clippings worth more than gold ….

November 1, 2013

“The grass withers, the flower fades, Because the breath of the Lord blows upon it; Surely people are grass. The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever.” Isaiah 40:8 New King James

It should have been enough .. but it wasn’t. We could hear it .. see it .. and feel it in our lives and still it was not enough. God had it written down on stone and yet our own hearts turned into stone. God said if we would love Him .. trust Him .. obey Him .. serve Him .. and live for Him our lives would be blessed beyond anything we could ever imagine … and still that was not good enough. There were moments when his words and our lives came alive .. lives changed .. families birthed .. a nation advanced .. strangers and aliens traveling thousands of miles to become like “us”. Even that was not good enough. So God has done for thousands of years what He is doing today: sewing His Words into every cell of your life. The one promise of His Word is that it will endure forever. Your life .. my life .. our lives will fade, but God’s Word will endure forever. You can count on this promise: God’s Word will never fail your life. And yet God showed you how much you are worth to Him … He became flesh and blood so that you could see what The Word really looked like … and it really looked like you. The spoken Word should have been enough. The written Word was more than enough. But it has taken the Skin-wrapped Word to really sink into all the unseen places of our lives. He is enough for everything in your life. He is enough when your body begins to fade. He is enough when life around you overwhelms or disappoints you. He is enough for the deepest hurt .. deepest longing .. and deepest regret. Everything around you may fail today .. but God keeps His Word. “Christ in you” … He is enough for all of your life .. yesterday .. today .. and forever. This Jesus and your life … only takes a moment …

“The Word was first, the Word present to God. God present to the Word. The Word was God, in readiness for God from day one. … The Word became flesh and blood and moved into the neighborhood.” John 1:1-2, 14 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
