An Indestructible Life …

November 4, 2013

“And this becomes clearer if another priest like Melchizedek arises, who doesn’t become a priest based on a legal command concerning physical descent but based on the power of an indestructible life.” Hebrews 7:15-16 Holman Christian Standard

“An indestructible life” … this is the promise that holds your life together. The indestructible life of Jesus is everything in your life. It’s His life that holds you up when everything around you and sometimes everything inside of you is crumbling. You know at that moment that you don’t have any control of the outside things and try as hard as you might .. you know you don’t have control over the inside things. But Jesus does. It’s His life that puts all the pieces back together. We would like for it to happen all at once, but it usually is an intentional walk .. day by day .. trusting His life to make sense out of all the parts and scattered pieces. On your side of the ledger are broken promises. On God’s side is this endless “Yes” stamped into your life. No, it doesn’t make sense at times .. especially when you’re out-of-sorts. God doesn’t walk away when it gets difficult. Remember, your life is held together .. a dwelling place of the indestructible life of Christ. There’s no one like Him: His life stretches so far back into history that you’ll either trust and rest in His life .. or you’ll ask His help but turn to your own devices. Your life is held together .. defined .. and being directed by Christ’s indestructible life .. stamped with his indwelling Spirit. This is the beginning of your day .. the substance of your day .. and the conclusion of what your day will look like in Christ. He’s not going to walk away. An indestructible life: that’s what you’re worth .. that’s what holds you together .. and that’s what really makes your life worth living today. Your whole life has God’s “Yes” of Jesus stamped upon everything you’ve ever done .. or will do. For today …? IT only takes a moment …

“Whatever God has promised gets stamped with the Yes of Jesus. In him, this is what we preach and pray, the great Amen, God’s Yes and our Yes together, gloriously evident. God affirms us, making us a sure thing in Christ, putting his Yes within us. By his Spirit he has stamped us with his eternal pledge—a sure beginning of what he is destined to complete.” 2 Corinthians 1:20-22 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
