On your own .. or .. one of his own..?

November 7, 2013

“Our firm decision is to work from this focused center: One man died for everyone. That puts everyone in the same boat. He included everyone in his death so that everyone could also be included in his life, a resurrection life, a far better life than people ever lived on their own.” 2 Corinthians 5:14-15 The Message

The offer .. the invitation .. the gift is this: God has a better life for you than any life you could ever live on your own. Against all other offers in the world that you live in today is Jesus Christ. His life “in” your life means your life becomes a new creation. Not just some things become new .. but “all things” in your life become new. How does all this become new in you? Though the indestructible power .. the indefatigable love .. and the inexhaustible riches of Jesus’ love for you. There is a Cross whose shadow looms over everything wrong about your life .. about how you look at yourself ..and about how you try to fix it yourself. That Cross is greater than everything aligned against you today. That Cross is where all the “old things” of your life pass away .. in a moment. There is a resurrection-life .. a new life .. a better-than-you-ever-lived-on-your-own-life waiting and washing all over your life today. If anyone “is in Christ” defines that resurrection life. You’ve exchanged all that old life for all the new life that is found in Jesus. He’s the one who goes room by room and file by file through all the issues .. struggles .. and old-hanging-on-habits that still try to define you and direct your new life. You can take your hands off and open your heart to the One who has a life for you today where you can stop running .. stop lying .. and start living .. alive in his resurrection life in you. God doesn’t look at the distance .. the years .. or the cost of giving you this new life. He paid everything that He is because you were worth everything that He is. And this life is today .. and only takes a moment …

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” 2 Corinthians 5:17 New King James

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
