So much .. more than you think

December 17, 2013

“God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him should not be lost, but should have eternal life.” John 3:16 J. B. Phillips Version

What does “so much” look like in your life? On one side it looks like God had “so much” love for you that the only way you could know was in the gift. He could have solved all of your problems .. but you wouldn’t know that as love. He could have given you everything you ever wanted .. but you wouldn’t have known that as love. He could have made you without any struggles .. problems .. worries .. but you still would not know what “so much” love look like. SO.. He gave you something worth more than anything you will ever achieve .. acquire .. or become … His only Son. You are loved that much .. so much more than you can ever imagine. God’s love gives first. It’s value is beyond measure. It is so extravagant that your first thought is that you have to prove you are worthy of it .. or show how much you are willing to do to keep it. Would you give away your greatest treasure .. your “so much” for the world you live in today? Think about it. Look around. Would you give such a gift to your world right now .. the way it is .. with all its problems and cancers? God did. He loved you so much that he gave Jesus so that you wouldn’t be lost. God’s so much and your believing become eternal life in you. That makes the world you live in the very place where God’s-so-much becomes visible .. freely .. through you. What if you could love like this? You can when Christ is the life you are learning to love. You won’t just tolerate your world. You won’t just reach a point where you can escape your world. You won’t shield yourself from it. You’ll love it “so much” that you’ll give the Jesus-so-much in you away. And someone in your world will no longer be lost because you learned to love “so much”. It only takes a moment…

“But even though we were dead in our sins God, who is rich in mercy, because of the great love he had for us, gave us life together with Christ– it is, remember, by grace and not achievement that you are saved ..” Ephesians 2:4-5 J. B. Phillips

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
